Art Alive Expo

Today the whole of Point England School had a Art Expo. Each class or team had different types of art from different Artists some of them included Pop-Art for which Andy Warhol (Full Name - Andrew Warhola) used for his arts. The Art-Expo included many different variations of art and some classes had paintings about Covid-19. The younger classes (Team 3 and under) had colourful paintings and decorations about art. Some of them included Tie-Dye shirts with different colours. Team 4 had their own versions of many different patterns and wrote a little bit about it.

Room 9 and 10 had patterns and they had the Official School Logo coloured fully. And lastly Team 5 were based on different artists  like Van Gogh or Andy Warhol.

This was very enjoyable to people and this was very fun to do! Sadly this is our last event at this School.

Poetry (1st Try)

(Trying to rhyme with N or G )

Inside the red gate, nothing would happen.

Inside the red gate, kids are playing.

Trees are swaying, while kids are playing.

In summer weather, every kid is excited.

In winter, everyone feels cold.

Kids walking to school, while being cold.

People frown and grin, with unexplainable expressions.

Inside their skin, they’re growing.

This year everything changed, with distances happening.

While watching others from afar, and waiting for them.

Students walk to school and come inside the red gate.

Students go and play before the bell rings.

Through these years I have over grew.

I have learnt to have summon sense.

Climate Change (Group Task)

Task description - Today for reading we ad to do a PSA (Public Service Announcements) in a group between 2-4 not more than that. My group consisted of Trinity, Mata, llaisaane (Including me.) We had to choose what type of topic we wanted and we decided to write about Climate Change since it includes some interesting facts and details within the topic.

We originally had a video but it got lost in the ipad so the more easier thing to do was to write about it instead of just recreating the video again.

Mystical Figure (Not Finished)

Mystical Figure

There was once a tree, not an ordinary tree, but something special.  This certain tree lived in a small resorted place whose name is unknown. The tree was known to have a mystical, enchanting, twisted figure while being hidden around trees and dark mystical colors. No-body got to take a closer view of this tree for unknown reasons. The tree was similar to chocolate brown with some additions of black (Secretly hidden near the leaves) the leaves were emerald green with some mint green near the edge. The moon was hidden between the dark clouds and the water was slightly shining. Some campers would try their best to find this exact spot but eventually they find a normal tree nothing really special so they were disappointed about this.

16,000 year old kelp in Scotland.

Scotland

Scotland is a country which is part of the United Kingdom. Covering the northern third island of Great Britain, mainland Scotland has a 96-mile border with England to the southeast is otherwise...  Capital - Edinburgh. National Animal - Unicorn (The Truth) Population - 5.454 million. The national flag of Scotland is the Saltire. It's made up of a great white cross which spans diagonally across the flag a blue background. This was the supposed shape of the cross that St Andrew was put to death on and therefore the flag is known as the "The Flag of St".

Kelp

Scientists found a type of kelp which was 16,000 years old.

A Team from Heriot-Watt  University think the type of seaweed survived since the last Ice Age.

Scientists will now investigate of why it survived for that long, especially  they were focusing ioon how marine plants survive extreme changes in climate.

They found it off the coast of Scotland, Ireland and Brittany (France)

One of the marine Ecologists said " Kelp plays a critical role in the Atlantic so it's important to understand what affects its distribution and survival over-time and how sensitive it is to change".

There are 30 different types of kelp, and the one they found is called Oar-weed.

The Overgrown Bridge

Overgrown Bridge

A few years ago, there was a certain bridge which was popular back then but now nobody uses it.  About 5 or 10 years ago, this bridge was really popular since it’s located between a few popular cities.
This bridge (commonly called  Old Harbour Bridge) was really special back then because it was more easily accessible for other people. The people used it non-stop for driving or just a long walk. Eventually people stopped using it for an unknown reason.

People got scared as well since it crumbled down very slowly and people got hurt or stuck. Harbour Bridge was closed for a while but even-though it was closed down for a few weeks it slowly started to get overgrown or basically leaves and  vines grew around the whole bridge for absolutely no reason.

This was a-bit weird but it’s slightly not-surprising for local people mainly because this town was known for weird activities during day-night with no exact cause. They had a pretty bad history because there was a really weird-dangerous illness going around the country and only some people died. This wasn’t the weirdest thing because the people who passed away are slightly seen near the places they were found but that’s what used to happen back in the 1800-1900’s.

Although the history was pretty bad, the people were very nice towards others while a few (3-5) were a-bit Two-sided (Two-siders are people who act very nice-kind but they are really rude and talk bad about you or others you love/don’t know much about.) During the shining day-light, the bridge caught everyone’s attention because of its beauty.

Fossils of 4-legged Whales found in Peru.

4-Legged-Whales

A fossil of a 43-million-year-old whale with 4 legs, webbed feet and hooves were found in Peru. Palaeontologists believe the marine mammals 4-metre-long body was adapted to swim and to walk on land. The semi-aquatic whale was compared to a otter, beaver of something that was longer and larger. It was found marine sediments 1km inland from Peru's Pacific Coast, at Playa Media Luna.

Palaeontologists, are about the Study of Life that existed prior and sometimes including the start of the Holocene Epoch. It also includes the Study of Fossils to classify organisms and study interactions with each-other and their environments.

Sediments is a naturally occurring material  that is broken down by processes of weathering and erosion, and is subsequently transported of wind, water and ice.

In earth science, erosion is the action of surface processes (water flow or wind) that removes soil, rock, or dissolved material from one location on the Earth's Crust. Then transports it into another location.

Holocene Epoch is the current period of geologic time. Another term is the Anthropocene Epoch.

Power Alternatives (Create task)

Task description - Today for reading we had to read a story (Power Alternatives) which was about different types of energy and why we should save the energy.

Saving Energy

Pink = Example Blue = Statement Green = Green

                                        Title - Saving Energy

                                           Introduction

We should use less Energy,Oil and Gas. We need to use less otherwise in 50-100 years we are losing all of it. If we use less Energy, Oil and Gas we could have it for at least 100-200 years from now. Here are 3 ways to save Energy.

                                             Saving Oil
Oil is precious to us mainly because we mostly use it for cooking at times or other Oil-related things. We should use a bit less Oil because just like I said before we are going to run out of Oil. You can either 1. Not use a lot of Oil. 2. Try to use other things instead of just Oil (Only because we barely will have any oil in 50 or 100 years for everyone.)

                                                  Gas
We need gas as much as Oil for nearly everything. We need it for many things but we should at-least use something else other than Gas because of us nearly losing both Gas and Oil in 50-100 years. We overly use Oil a-bit too much but it’s the same as Gas. You can either 1. Use less Gas and again try to find something else. 2. Trying to find a few different things instead of just Gas.

                                                 Energy
We need to use less energy otherwise we lose it. Everyone around the whole world uses energy for things. We need to use it less otherwise it’s gone in 50-100 years or if we use less we can have more energy for 100-200 years which would be better. For example, if we use way too much Energy,Oil and Gas it’ll be gone within years whereas if use less energy, oil or gas

Conclusion - So there you have it, 3 ways to save/use more renewable's, Oil and Gas. Is there any other way to save Oil and Gas?

Flag History of Niue.

Task description - Today since I wrote about the History of Niue I decided to write about the Flag's history and how special it is.

Sustainability about Water (Writing)

 Title - Sustainability about Water

Introduction - We need cleaner water for the Marine Animals. We need clean water to save our water life otherwise they will die. People keep polluting our water which hurts our animals. There are 3 reasons to keep our water clean.

1.When you take a shower don’t take a shower that’s between 20 minutes. If you do try to take a shorter shower so you can save more water. When you take a warm shower instead of using all or most of the warm water. Instead, keep a water heater to feel more warmer. Even though this isn’t about water you can just eat meat or have milk and eggs.

2.Water is important, we need water for survival of our animals and people. We have to save our water and not waste it. 700m people don’t have access to water or at least clean water. So we need to save the water (and not waste it) but also the government slightly needs to change their attitude towards this problem.

3.Even though we need water for farming or gardening don’t waste it. People swim in the fresh water but since it’s polluted it becomes unswimmable. Water is slightly hard to get some people live on some places that don’t have enough water. So instead of polluting our water try to find another spot (that means to store it somewhere else where people can’t get hold of it.)

Conclusion - There you have it, the 3 different ways to keep our water clean for everyone. Are there any other ways to save water?

Sustainability: Water

Task description - Today for writing we learn't about the problems of water and that people need to stop wasting it. We had to at least write 3 examples of saving water from 3 different videos.

Andy Warhol (Pop Art)

Since our theme this term is about Art, Team 5 had Art rotations but firstly we had to start from our home class. For Room 5, we learnt about Andy Warhol. Andy Warhol  (born name Andrew Warhola) was a famous artist who was born in 6th August 1928 (Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania)  and sadly died back in 22nd February 1987. Andy's parents were Slovakian immigrants. His father was a construction worker while his mother was an embroiderer. Around the age of 8, Andy contacted Chorea previously known as St. Vitus's Dance. Andy was sick in bed, while his mother (A very skilled artist) so she gave Andy a few lessons.

Drawing soon became Warhol's favourite pastime in his childhood. He was also a fan of Avid of movies. Once he turned 9, his mother brought him a camera so he took photography as well. Andrew attended Holmes Elementary and took free art classes offered from Carnegie Institute (Now known as Carnegie Museum Of Art, Pittsburgh) . Around 1942, at the age of 14, Andy suffered a tragedy when sadly his father passed away from a Jaundiced liver. Andy got really upset to the point where he never attended his fathers funeral but just slowly sobbed underneath his bed for awhile to show how precious his father was towards him.

Warhol's father recognised Andy's artistic skills and he decided that his life savings would go to Andy's education at College. Around that same year, Andy attended Schenly High School then soon he graduated in 1945 (3 years) . He studied pictorial designs in Carnegie Institute Of Technology (Known as Carnegie Mellon University. )

Art Rotation #1 -  In home class we learnt about  someone called "Andrew Warhola" (Andy Warhol) who was born in Oakland, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania  (6th August, 1928) but he sadly died back in 1987 (22nd February) . His Parents were Slovakian immigrants and around the age of nine his parents decided to give him a camera. He took photographs of things. Andrej Warhola was a construction worker while his mother (Julia Warhola) was a embroiderer. Sadly Andy had a Nervous System which made him bedridden for a few months.

Transit of Venus,Captain Cook

Today we had to complete 2 tasks for reading and this was about Captain Cook and the Transit Of Venus.

 Transit of Venus -

Like Earth, Venus travels around the sun but it follows a closer orbit.

Sometimes the planet’s path takes it between the earth and sun. Whenever this happens, we can see Venus move across the sun’s face. This is called a “Transit”. Even though Venus Transits are rare they are also predictable. They are located in pairs but at least 8 years apart but separated by long gaps which either consist 105 or 121 years.

In 1716, a English astronomer called “Edmond Halley” worked out a way to use the transit of Venus to calculate the distance between Earth and Sun.

Around the early 18th century, people didn’t really have this information.

Over a hundred scientists watched the transit of Venus in 1761, but some couldn’t really take the accurate measurements because there was bad weather. But luckily they tried once again after 8 years (1769) .

(But if they were unsuccessful they would have to wait another 105 years.)

So the 1769 transit was watched from various places like Canada, Norway and Russia. Then they combined the results from 1761 and their successful transit together. After a few years they discovered that the Earth is at least 93, 727, 000 miles away from the sun.

So if we use our modern day technology preferably a radar we would know that it’s around 149, 600 , 000 kilometers.

(Which one do you think was better? 1761/1769 or now?)

The incredible tale of the real-life Lord of Flies

Today for writing we had to watch a few Tongan videos and describe what was in the video.I chose to watch a video called "The incredible tale of the real-life Lord of Flies".

Lord of Flies is a short but slightly a old tale basically about someone who is known to be the "Lord of Flies". Around the 60's possibly in June (the date of this) there was somethings that happened possibly in Tonga (since it's based of the country) there were some men walking up some dangerous rocks by the sea while holding fish (I think it's fish) , Once they reached near the top all the men held up the raw fish and started eating it's raw flesh.

Another pair of men (preferably the same men) went into a forest and started looking around. They suddenly created a fire while using sticks and kept the fire warm. After that , they grabbed more fish and put it near the fire then slowly ate it . Some people chopped an entire tree to build something which would be important/helpful . Once that happened some other people stood around the fire and then a ship came basically near the water so they slowly walked inside and when they reached the top they all slightly got happy and 2 by 2 jumped out of the boat

The National flag of Cambodia in its present form was originally adopted in 1948 and readopted in 1993 after the Constituent Assembly election in 1993 and restoration of the monarchy.

Since around the 1850, the Cambodian flag has featured a depiction of Angkor Wat in the centre. The current flag with a blue border and red centre were adopted following Cambodia's independence in 1948. It was used until 9 October 1970, when a new flag was introduced for Lon Nol's Khmer Republic that lasted until the takeover of the Khmer Rouge in 1975.The subsequent state of Democratic Kampuchea. which existed from 1975 to 1979, used a red flag with a three-towered  Angkor wat design design retained in yellow beginning in 1976. The story of this was dated way back in the past.”There was a man and woman who loved each other but they had paranormal activities which couldn’t stop.Once they found a way to prevent this from happening it was fine for them. The ritual of this is to raise a girl and once she reaches the exact age (which is unknown) she would be tortured. Her remains would be at the gate.” This story is so messed up.

Lotus asked “why are we here? Can we go somewhere else please?” “You are asked to stay here so don’t complain”.Once they opened the door a little girl was sitting down crying. The male villager whose name is Park was about to run away but Lotus stopped him.”She needs help. Can we help her?” “I suggest  not.You don’t know who she is.Stay away from her at all costs.”

    Biosphere 2

Task description - Today for inquiry we had to do a task which is all about "Biosphere 2".Biosphere 1 is all about the earth.

    Special Visit!

Today we had 2 special guests who were Joseph & Elizabeth Parker.

Everyone was surprised mainly since we did get hints from Mrs Tele’a

but we actually thought it could be Mrs Tele’a relatives or someone she

knew very well.Once they both came in Joseph started to say how thankful

he is to everyone.Elizabeth was also very happy to be there.

Joseph also stated that if you believe in yourself you will feel better with yourself.

But then he also said that “nothing, can beat hard work” which is really helpful to

our school since we always say no matter what happens we need to believe in

ourselves.Mr Burt also added that we need to sanitize our hands even when our

    country is covid-free.

    Narrative Writing (Choose It) 1/7

(Warning:The village is completely abandoned and the village is real. The mansion is very scary and it’s real. The mansion’s  story is completely real!)

One day there lived a girl named “Lotus”.Lotus lived in a very small but friendly village called “Inunaki Village”.This village has a very bad/terrifying past. Here’s the story, once there lived a small girl named “Rose”.Rose is friendly to everyone who used to live there.

But one day she accidentally fell into a pond which was very deep.No one could save her so she had a sad death. The villagers were mourning over her death.Around 12:30am a villager grabbed a weapon or at least something to attack the villagers.

Some nights she would hear noises coming from the small villages.Once she even heard a scream which crept her out the most. But she even saw an apparition of a male with a knife or axe.

Once that villager grabbed that sincere weapon they snuck inside other people’s small house and started to hurt them with it.The most important thing she didn’t know was that the villagers who usually look after her are actually the spirits of the scene which happened before.

Everyday she would go by the pond and get to see a small girl who was once known as Rose.Lotus was scared but it turned out to be her reflection which was weird since she actually saw a small girl before.

Lotus soon ran back to the village and she was so scared so she never looked back. Her parents were confused but as soon as Lotus described the girl’s facial features they went silent. They walked towards Lotus and grabbed her.Her father threw her outside which nearly killed poor Lotus.A male villager walked towards her and took her with him.

Lotus was screaming & crying since she was injured. The male villager immediately covered her with a blindfold and tried to keep her warm throughout the journey. As soon as they arrived at their destination Lotus kept quiet. The villager took off her blindfold and held her hand to keep her safe.

E hia enei? (How many are there?)

Today we had a task to complete which is about "E hia enei?" in English it means  "How many are there?". This task means that how many things are there.Basically we had to be questioned by Whaea Kelly and we had to reply in Maori.Like for example, there were 10 pencils but we couldn't say "there are ten pencils" we had to respond in Maori which is "E tekau nga pene rakau".

    The Staircase (Narrative Writing)

Today we had to do a writing test.I was kinda shaking since I didn't know what to do but then I thought of doing something like this.

There were 4 girls (Lisa,Minnie,Joy & Sana). These girls were sweet to others. On 14,Jan 2000 (5:30 PM) Joy was casually walking in a forest but then she realised something was wrong.Out of nowhere she got frightened. There was someone following her but lucky the 3 girls were with her.”Girls, some is following us!” “How are you so sure?” said Lisa.

Sana was confused but she was the bravest one there.Minnie turned around to see no one was there.Joy suddenly passed out while someone was laughing. “Who is there?!” “Leave us alone!!!”. After a while the girls noticed that it was getting a bit dark.A little girl came out of nowhere and saw the 4 girls.

Lisa knew the girl was suspicious since she was wearing a red dress with dark red splattered all over her dress.Minnie & Sana both said “Why are you here little-” but they were cut off by Lisa whispering “guys, she is a ghost. She is the ghost who died from a doll who killed her and she wants to kill anyone who had spotted her or whoever talked to her”.

Joy was shocked.”How could a beautiful young girl be so scary?” Nobody other than Minnie believed Lisa even though Lisa was truly right.”The girl’s name is unknown but she was killed by a doll named Mary-san. Mary-san is truly deadly but that doll is in Japan only where we are”.

Sana was so upset.”he-he,HAHAHA!!!” The girl was laughing hysterically non-stop.The girls dashed their way out to realise their lost. The sky was deep black. When they looked at their watch…”It’s 12:00!!!” “We need to go home now!!” Minnie was too busy choosing to go up the mysterious stairs.

Lisa ran up the stairs leaving the girls shocked. The others also slowly went up… When they went up they all saw a cabin with other people in it.Most of them were the girl’s friends.Once they went inside a speaker suddenly said “1,2 1,2” everyone hid in places like under the bunk beds,in the forest outside and more.Lisa,Minnie,Sana & Joy ran and hid in the wardrobe.

The door burst open and Minnie looked through a small hole to realise the girl was back again! When she told the others they wanted to scream but Sana noticed that Mary (The girls name was found) was holding a knife behind her back.Mary was jumping on the beds and killing the girls one by one.

Joy was slowly getting sick and suddenly Mary opened the closet door… The girls were able to make it out alive but Joy immediately said “RUN!!!” and they saw another staircase so they went inside a house.Locked the door and when they turned on the lights… Sana said “where are we?” “are we inside our house since it’s been an hour getting away from a girl who looked innocent?”

Lisa looked around and she knew they were back home but why was their house in a forest? They heard a knocking type of sound but luckily the windows and doors were completely shut and locked. When Minnie peered through the window she was nearly crying. Lisa straight away yelled out “Leave us alone!!! What did we ever do to you!!!”

That’s when she knew she shouldn’t have done that.Joy grabbed a sharp weapon (preferably a knife) and slowly opened the door… Mary was about to stab them but Joy immediately stabbed the girl and they became safe.

    How to prevent spreading Covid-19?

In order to stop spreading Covid-19 to others you need to Wash your hands (whenever you to toilet & picking up groceries).Wear masks if you feel sick(like whenever there's a crowded area the best thing you could do is wearing masks or when you get the common flu).2 meter distancing(this one is really important since our Prime Minister said this a lot of times) & the other ways are ones you should already know.

    Haunted

Offered for immediate sale-outstanding this 18th stone manor which was built in 1721 for French expatriate family. In a bad condition, the house is nonetheless a building you must-see if your a history lover.Three grand stories sit on 30,000 acres, with plenty of room which could be used for development. This was offered at a bargain by the American heir overseas. Please enquire at Hamilton & Sons Estate Agents, 9 Princes Square, Grenshire.

This story was about a girl.Whenever her family has done something pretty awful they had to move to different places a lot.Her stepdad,Steven, has a remote job which had no problem for him to relocate. Her Mother was a stay-at-home Mom for Tabby and her Job travelled too.

I recommend this book to older kids probably since it has some haunting parts which might fright the younger ones a bit and it uses different types of paragraphs.

    Dear Future Me.

    Dear Future Me
If you were going to write a letter to your 21 year old self, what would you say?
What is the date and where are you sheltering in place? Mon/04/20. In my house.

1.What is some recent information that you can share about what is happening with the pandemic? Around 2 million people in different countries caught the virus. In South korea around 91 patients have recovered but they all caught it again.

2.What do you think about how it is being handled locally, nationally or internationally? For locally people break the rules of lockdown and that causes the virus to spread everywhere.Nationally,Everyone has tried to stay calm about this virus..Lastly Internationally,China has closed the Seafood market in Jianghan,Wuhan,Hubei. But they reopened it again.Even the prime ministers have been trying to keep everyone calm about this world pandemic.

Has anyone you know been affected by covid-19? A 55-year old. How so? She visited the market in China and contracted the virus by eating their food which has Dogs, cats,Rabbits, snakes,Bats.Bats naturally have poison in them and snakes eat Bats.

Dear Future Me,I wish that when I get older I try out many different things which I couldn’t do
before. When Covid-19 stops I would still avoid people and I would at least stay a 2-meter
distance from people I’m close to but other than that I would like to go and travel around the
world or even learn the language of the places I would like to go to but right now I’m actually
learning Japanese which would make it more easier for people to understand. The things I
mainly would like to do would to be Writing in any genre, travelling, looking after pets, helping
homeless people  and so much more! I wish I could at least do a few things from my list.

Don’t Let Go! (Where is She Going?) Part 2

    Don’t Let Go!
That sinister girl was called “Sally”. Sally needed help with fixing her wounds which were caused by her abusive family.Joy grabbed bandages and helped her.But there was only 1 wound left which was her mouth.In-case if Sally didn’t want her to touch it.Joy asked for permission and Sally said yes.

Once Sally removed her mask Joy got horrified.Sally had a huge slit that went across her mouth which was really creepy.Irene waltzed into the room and suddenly Sally disappeared.”Joy what are you still doing here? Go and play around instead of staying here!” Wendy went inside to see Joy standing in the middle of the room staring at Irene.

Irene rolled her eyes and left the room. Then Sally appeared and asked”Why are you standing there wendy come and help me”. Wendy was very shocked and she felt very sad for Sally.Joy was looking around.Acting clueless Joy asked Wendy why she came.”Wendy, why are you here? Did you need anything?”. Wendy replied saying “Joy,I saw Irene dancing happily with something behind her back.It looked like a sharp object”.

Sally got bored and said “you guys really don’t understand don’t you?” then she started yelling “IRENE DID THIS!!!”. The girls were shocked to hear that Irene was a cold-blooded person or killer.Wendy was already going to tell her mother to stop Irene  from going into the party.”Mother,we need you to stop Irene from going to the party!” Her Mother already said “But why? She left already”. Joy and Wendy were shocked to hear that but their mother was waiting impatiently to hear them say why Irene can’t go.

Wendy was really angry and upset that her own mother let a cold-blooded person go.”Mother,You really don’t understand anything about Irene!” Of course her mother was furious to hear her daughter say something like that.”Excuse me! I know about my precious daughter Irene. I love and care about her”.Joy started to realise how Irene left.So she suddenly ran outside to see that her garden was empty.Wendy was so furious that she yelled “Irene hurt a girl who is younger than us! Irene is a cold-blooded person!”.

Her Mother was so angry that she called Irene. But Irene was so not bothered to answer.Joy was following the tracks and she actually got a weird feeling since she was alone but she suddenly spotted a few animals.Out of frustration Wendy left.Sally re-appeared in-front of Wendy just standing and smiling.”You really want to know where Joy is?”

Wendy was really triggered about what happened before so she didn’t say anything.”oh come on! You can just say yes or otherwise if you don’t say anything I will curse her!!!” Wendy still didn’t say anything… “Fine, since you aren’t answering I will curse her to only fly!” Joy was going to the animals but suddenly she started to fly.”Help,Help Me!!!”
